The Agony of Enduring Toll Tax at Murthal in Haryana

Image
Why should we pay toll tax? Because the NHAI, on behalf of the Indian government, is supposed to provide us with well-maintained, smooth roads. The answer is simple, isn't it? However, the question that one should ask the government is that are we getting for what we are paying? Are we supposed to pay every other tax that the administration imposes on the common man, even if it is erroneous? Are we not supposed to raise our voice if we see any wrongdoing happening around us? The latest misconduct from the Indian government has surfaced in the form of toll tax being levied on the motorists at Murthal in Haryana. The entire stretch of NH1 from Delhi to Panipat used to be a tax-free zone, and the automobiles would glide from one point to the other. But just by enforcing one huge barrier in Murthal, the Haryana government has played havoc with the professional and personal lives of the Indians, at least the natives of Haryana state. Needless to say that traveling on this stretch of...

You May Fall in Love with Kolkata or Just Hate it Forever

Image
Kolkata, or Calcutta, as the locals love to call the city, is close to the heart of millions of Indians. Nevertheless, people coming to Kolkata from outside have their own experiences and judgments of the town. When you enter the urban city for the first time, you realize that Kolkata has its own temperament and a distinct character. This personality of the metropolis may make you feel surprised or just awful about it depending on where you come from. For the Indians, the cultural changes may not be too many, but for the foreigners, Kolkata may be an entirely new world. Open Bazaars Throughout the City of Joy in West Bengal, you will find open markets. The Walking Bazars comprise the sellers who sit on both sides of congested lanes trading in things like flowers, books, local food, vegetables, fruits, televisions, and everything you can think of. They also offer services like barber, cobbler, Ayurvedic medications, washing clothes, typewriting, and many more things. The open ma...

Image
You may be expecting to read a few health tips in this article to alter your diet that may enhance your quality of sleep. Relax, none of that is going to happen in the next twelve minutes of your life. By the time you are done going through this piece of writing, you may want to implement just one change in your daily routine to have a better life. Sleep is something that comes naturally to us, but we like to deprive ourselves of it for countless reasons. Can you recall when you were a teenager, you would never mind sacrificing a siesta if you felt something was more important than  just sleeping ? All the same, it was never just Sleep. Many of us would never realize the importance of taking a nap at least until the age of 25. As soon as we come close to our thirties, we begin appreciating the need to be dead to the world for minimum six to eight hours daily. And we do not want to compromise on that, no matter how much fun a party is. Is it imperative to sleep? Can you ...

Men and Women both are Responsible for the Plight of Women in India and the World

Image
Something very shameful happened in Bengaluru during the New Year eve of 2016, the coverage of which was as awful as the felony itself. The youngsters of the ‘metropolitan’ decided to go out to celebrate the upcoming year of 2017 during the midnight of December 31, 2016, which is nothing special as anyone would think of doing so with their friends and family. Given that you a are female living, learning, and earning in a metropolitan like Bengaluru, you would feel at least a little safe to go out with your friends, men and women, and not to mention you would whatever you wanted to. But the destiny had planned something else for the entire city that night. Shaming all the Indian values of tolerance and sensitivity, the so-called ‘moral police’ of the city attacked each and every woman they could lay their hands on, molested them, assaulted them- all in the name of teaching them a lesson! No woman could have ever imagined in her life that she would be attacked in such a way in ...

The Odds of Getting Even

Image
Being deluded by someone can be one of the worst feelings in the world, and the first thing that comes to our mind after being deceived is to strike back at the beguiler. However, the odds of getting even with someone may not be very high every time. Retaliating can take away our peace of mind, even if we successfully get even. In today's world, we may often feel provoked to avenge the bad we received. It may make us feel weak and helpless if we do not fight back. Sometimes, we may resolve to fight back to seek justice, to teach the other person a lesson, to compete professionally, to prove it to ourselves that we are not weak, to show it to the world that we still have the fire left in us, and to prove innumerable other points. Nevertheless, proving our point only makes sense unless we do not lose our heartsease. Professionally speaking, it is good that we compete in the healthy environment of a contest. We often have occupational rivals and it is great to have neat or not-s...

‘My choice’- The documentary on women empowerment by Deepika Padukone

Image
A few months ago, Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone was featured in a video called ‘My Choice’. It seemed to be made for the empowerment of women but it went much deeper. The dialogues that were delivered by Deepika were supported by the acts of the other ninety-nine women featured in it. These were the ordinary women, some middle class and some upper middle class like any of us. However, I personally do not agree with the entire video. Because eventually, Homi Adjania, the director forgot that when we talk about the empowerment of women, it is not only about the women in urban places, but also the poor women of rural India. I disagree with the documentary on two platforms: factual and emotional. From the factual point of view, there was some serious misunderstanding about the topic itself. Deepika said that it was her choice to have sex before marriage, after marriage or not to have sex at all. This is entirely a woman’s choice about her decision on this issue but the idea de...
