Tanmay Bhat gets Roasted after he Roasts Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar, video faces BAN

Sometimes, the comedians go too far to create humor. This time, AIB’s Tanmay Bhat is under the scanner for making fun of two Indian legends, Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar. In his video titled Sachin v/s Lata Civil War, he faceswapped the two celebrities and enacted an argument of insults. The cricket marvel and the singing legend have been out of any kind of ill publicity throughout their career. And it is beyond the imagination of Indians to hear their voices in such an awfully created snapchat video.
Some of the punchlines used  against Lata Mangeshkar are- “Your face looks like someone has kept you in water for eight days” and “Snow also died, so should you”. This is too much derogatory even for a layman, forget such marvels of the country.
Tanmay has received severe criticism for his act from bollywood denizens like Riteish Deshmukh,  Anupam Kher, Celina Jaitly, etc. but he must have been enjoying the attention he has got from all sects of Indian intelligentsia as well as common people. He has been successful in grabbing the attention he wanted. Tanmay Bhat’s own Tweet validates this fact. After he posted the video, he tweeted that when people write about him the following day, they can use his Snapchat ID- thetanmay.
The statement proves that he just wanted to create a controversy to stay in headlines. However, unlike past, the AIB member took the not-so-humorous path to come back to lime light. He knew it from the very beginning that he will receive negative comments for his video. Perhaps, he wanted to popularize his Snapchat ID and have maximum views for his video.
On the other hand, he has supporters from the country as well. People like Chetan Bhagat have come to support him and got roasted back!. He tweeted that the comedians must not be arrested for cracking jokes, even if the jokes are too bad.
Despite being an AIB fan, I do not support the work of Tanmay this time. However, I do not support the FIR and arrest as well. This is way too much of a reaction in a tolerant country like India. Tanmay has got enough rejection from his fans as well as non-fans.
AIB gave out a statement afterwards saying that the group believed in “absolute freedom of expression”. They “wanted to push the envelope of comedy in this country". They said that they did not want to hurt the sentiments of people. The statement also said that they “hope to be a part of an environment that supports... (absolute freedom of expression)...without fear of persecution, intimidation and most importantly, annoyance. As always, in our own AIB way we'll continue to strive towards creating that very environment"
The statement reveals clearly that the group and Tanmay Bhat have got the lesson.
